How do I encourage my child to read?

The question is often asked:

How do I motivate my child to learn to read?

Parents know that reading is important and it is particularly difficult to motivate a person with special needs to read.

Know your child's interest, if they are interested in Thomas the tank engine, Dora the explorer, dinosaurs, bugs or any other topic then get material that relates to that.

Most children enjoy being read to so read books to them
